Stay On Track This Holiday Season

Stay On Track This Holiday Season

Between the family gatherings and holiday parties, the holiday season is a time in which many people fall off their fitness routines and simply give up. Because it is so easy to over-indulge, many of us stop trying to stay on track and say we will get back on our nutrition and fitness regimen on January first.

However, you CAN enjoy the holiday season AND stay on track with your fitness plan by following these simple steps:

  1. Eat before you go. Eat a small healthy meal before you go to that holiday party or holiday dinner. That way you will not be ravenous when you get there and you wont’t be prone to eat everything in sight.
  2. Don’t waste your calories. When you go to a holiday party, take a survey of the food being offered. Eat only what you really want. If you get something you don’t like, don’t continue to eat it.
  3. Don’t drink your calories. Alcoholic beverages and holiday beverages such as eggnog and apple cider have a lot of empty calories. Skip these drinks and opt for water instead.
  4. Maintain your exercise regimen. Do what you can to maintain your exercise regimen. In fact, you may even need to increase your exercise in order to burn off those extra calories. Exercising is a great way to alleviate stress and you will need that during this holiday season!

Taking these four easy steps will ensure that your fitness routine stays intact during the holiday season.
